‘Entourage’ Will Wrap With A Movie

in Entourage, Movies

Mark Wahlberg and the rest of the producers on Entourage have agreed to two more season of the HBO comedy and then, as Wahlberg told Showbiz411.com last night, will film a movie to wrap the series.

At the “Lovely Bones” premiere last night, Wahlberg told me that there are two seasons left of “Entourage” on TV. And then? “We’ll see, there could be more. But then, a movie.”

At this point, a movie is still at least 26 episodes away, so it’s nearly impossible to speculate what it will actually be.  The two guesses I have are regarding are that it will be an actual film starring Vincent Chase or Vince and the boys going to the Oscars.

What do you think?

My take on the Entourage movie after the jump.

I watch Entourage regularly and reluctantly.  It’s something that’s mildly entertaining, but last season it devolved into a male version of Sex And The City. So now – heading into the last two seasons and a movie – I feel like I have so much time invested that I have to stick with the show.

You see, this is a problem because I feel like Entourage reached its peak in its second season.  We’re now heading into season seven.

In the episodes since the end of the second season,  the novelty of watching Vince and the boys hang out, smoke weed and bang hot women wore off.  There were still interesting plot twists and celebrity cameos, but Entourage is tired because the characters are permanently stuck because power doesn’t shift from character to character inside Vince’s crew.

The two most interesting aspects of the premise of Entourage would be jealousy amongst the non-famous friends and battling for money and status inside the inner-circle.  But in Entourage, the show’s writers haven’t explored either and that’s basically left an audience of frat boys who watch Entourage in order to take notes on how to be cool and bed girls.

What I hope for in the final two seasons and the movie is for the writers to raise the stakes and deal with storylines that matter.  Don’t have everything come out perfect all the time because it’s boring and predictable.  For example, did anybody think Lloyd wasn’t going to end up working for Ari as an agent?  I mean, if the writers want to give Drama cancer or have Vince kill someone in a car accident, I would be great with that.

Just please don’t waste my time with another season of watching four dudes work their relationships.
