The first song off of Muse’s upcoming album is called “United States of Eurasia” and it sounds very similar to a Queen track. Check it out here.

“Listening to Knight of Cydonia on my iPod. Blackholes and Revelations was the best rock CD of 06 (Sorry Julian).” failfailfail.
holy goodness, this DOES sound like Queen, no wonder everyone is saying that. that’s kinda crazy, I never thought Muse would go in that direction. it’s interesting to say the least. I really like Queen.
As you know, Hanan, I love The Strokes more than just about anybody. But Knights of Cydonia, Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, Map of the Problematique (sic?) and Take a Bow is a murderer’s row that FIoE can’t touch.
hm, well I guess the mind boggling improvements on Fab and Nikolai’s parts, not to mention sweet ass fucking solos in nearly all the songs, the catchy goodness of YOLO to the witty ending “the sky is not the limit and you’re never gonna guess what is” and the Middle Eastern-y guitars in Vision of Division and the lyrical supremacy of every word that Julian utters-nay, declares, you’re telling me that those things don’t constitute superiority to what isn’t even Muse’s best album?
Ize of the World, by itself, is better than anything Muse ever wrote.
Julian’s voice cracking during the Ize of the World performance has cast a shadow on the song for me. Every time I hear that part on the recording, I immediately think of him smoking cigarettes and wonder how his voice is now that he’s over 30.
I guess we just disagree on this issue. The thing that hurts FIoE, in my eyes, is the songs that you didn’t mention in your response. In addition to Red Light, Ize, Vision of Division and YOLO (the song that got me hooked on The Strokes), I love Juicebox, Heart in a Cage and Electricityscape. I think those seven songs (and maybe Razorblade too) are some of the best the band has produced.
But I’m not all that fond of Killing Lies, 15 Minutes, Evening Sun or Fear of Sleep. Ask Me Anything has grown on me, but those four songs in the previous sentence simply aren’t that good.
Bringing things full-circle, Muse doesn’t have a Killing Lies on its record. It’s full of really good songs with five that are unlike anything I’ve ever heard.
see, 15 Minutes and Evening Sun are two of my favourite songs ever! whatever, I think First Impressions is a great work of art.
Hahaha, I love the back and forth conversation you two had. But I must agree with Eric. I love Muse.
