Artie Lange was arrested for suspicion of DUI Friday afternoon when the comedian was involved in a slight fender bender in Toms River, New Jersey.
The AP reported that Lange’s Nissan Sentra hit the back of a Pontiac Grand Am. Neither car was significantly damaged and both drivers were fine.
Though the DUI is another publicity hit for Lange, his brand of comedy hinges on his self-effacing humor and the flaws in his personality and life. Lange will certainly find stand-up material in the aftermath of this incident and the Stern show should be better (read: funnier) because Lange got a DUI over the weekend.
Most importantly, hearing the news that Artie Lange was arrested and charged for a DUI isn’t surprising. It fits right into the every-man character he has built on the air and stage and will not be a big deal in a week. Even on The Howard Stern Show.
Hell, a DUI looks like nothing compared to this video…
