Mindy Kaling, writer and actor on The Office (she plays Kelly), has signed a new deal to develop and star in a new comedy for NBC worth over a million dollars. She’ll stick around The Office through next year, and possibly longer, but will work on her new show at the same time.
If you’re looking for a comparison, don’t think of Greg Daniels and Michael Schur creating Parks & Recreation. Think of Tina Fey developing 30 Rock in the way that Kaling’s new show should be an entirely different entity than The Office brand of humor. At least that’s what I hope. (Variety)
